Dear Malcolm
I recently took delivery of your latest Spirits Unlimited Euro 30 reflux still with the ceramic Rasching Rings and copper catalytic converter upgrade.
Malcolm, my father Trevor would really have loved this new Euro 30! You may well remember he was one of your earliest customers who purchased a stovetop pot still from your first or second batch made in late 1989/90 when you first set up Spirits Unlimited. I remember well my personal concern for Trev’s welfare when he proudly announced he was going to begin making his own spirits and I, from a science/laboratory employment background, thinking he would only do himself harm!
However, time proved my concerns to be unfounded, as home stilling turned into a really passionate hobby for Trev and a handy supply of great Bourbon for me, as was my preferred drink then. One good thing for Dad was the interest it created as he experimented with different flavouring and treatments of carbon and oak to find just the right style for his favoured whiskey’s.
In time his stovetop still was converted to an element version and then later upgraded to the 25 litre reflux still which I inherited on his death in 1998. This still has been in my service producing an acceptable quality of spirit for my use, though with minor modifications it has managed to be improved over the years.
This now brings me to my new Euro 30. Firstly my wife Lynda was not convinced I needed a new still, but the 3 ½ hour run time and the lack of smell during distillation is a real plus for her, so she’s happy. These facts are good for me too of course, but more importantly the purity of 92 to 93% which equates to a recovery of about 1.1 to 1.2 litres of 40% spirit per kg of sugar, makes the Euro 30 a far more economic proposition than the old reflux still.
Thus far, I have found the Euro 30 to require less water flow for temperature control, to be more economic in alcohol recovered, to be faster in time taken for distillation and all in a process that is cleaner and produces a much finer spirit with very little by way of impurities.
With time I look forward to learning even more about the capabilities of my Euro 30, but so far I can say it is a high quality product that is capable of producing a very high quality spirit, which can only improve the end product I am so proud of producing myself.
Malcolm, if there is any disappointment I have with the Euro 30, it is simply that Trev isn’t able to share this new technology with me and give me the opportunity to supply him with some of the excellent whiskeys I have produced by way of repayment to him for all the Bourbon he supplied for me over years past. Cheers Trev!

Dear James,
I thought I would start by saying that I ran my 60 litre Euro Still with the CCC top and bottom for at least two days and from 100 litres of wash using 32 kgs sugar I got 21.5 litres of 92% vol. I ran it for 8 hours the first day and 12 hours the second. I am well pleased!

Dear Spirits Unlimited,
I've been using your 7Ltr still and products for about 2 years now with a lot of success. I save a fortune when it comes time for parties and get a good reception when I turn up at friend's places with a bottle or two under my arm.
My personal favourite is your Golden Rum and many of my friends enjoying other flavours more than the commercially brought spirits (at a fraction of the cost).
Looking forward to many more brews.

Dear Jan and Malcolm,
I have been using one of your 20 L pot stills for two years, During this time I have put through the still in excess of Thirty washes, following the directions provided by Spirits Unlimited. The results have been very consistent averaging 5.5 L of 51% alcohol by volume per wash. I consider this a very satisfactory return both financially and "spiritually".
I wish also to congratulate you on your excellent Mail Order service, your prompt attention to my orders during the past two years is much appreciated. The packaging has ensured not a drop spilt during delivery.
I am very impressed with the consistency and quality of your spirit flavours. Your Black Label Whisky is a tasteful addition to your range. Other flavours, which I find very palatable, include your Premium Dry Gin, Smokey Bourbon, Brandy, Vodka and Bourbon Liqueur. Eleven of the "Noirot" flavours have also been tried and enjoyed.
I have no hesitation in recommending the "Spirits Unlimited" system and flavours to anyone intending to take up this most enjoyable and profitable pastime.
Yours sincerely, Basil Kane, Invercargill

Dear Malcolm
I have been making wine almost forever and have got the process sussed. My home brew beer was so-so until brew kits arrived on the supermarket shelves now - no problem.
But spirits thanks been something else. When I was fifteen I spent some time down by the Hokonuis and was fascinated to see a local make the mash and distill it.
This sight has remained vivid in my mind and over the years I have tried various methods and ingenious contraptions to do the same. The results invariably were more suited to car than man.
Then (Drum roll) Spirits Unlimited
Thank you Jan and Malcolm I am now complete.
And Thanks again
Roger

Dear Jan and Malcolm,
Leander and I find your products excellent. Although we can buy your ingredients from a local store here in Blenheim (Tans Book Shop) we still like to deal with you.
We have been unfortunately busy and haven't had a lot of times to make much but spring's here and we are getting into it again.
We very much enjoy the rum products and friends have commented how nice they are. We're not quite getting the liqueurs right so any comments will help. (They taste a little too alcoholy).
The groups in my soccer team have been quite partial in sharing my spirits that when we travel to Nelson for a competition game by mini bus they all ask me to bring some along, which is made ready to drink. This is a good incentive for lads to win because if they don't they don't get any.
Leander and I are looking forward to building up our stocks for summer.
Regards, Pete
NB: How do you best make the Noirot flavours ?????

Dear Jan and Malcolm,
I find it a hard task to comment on a system that is going so well.
For my part, access to kits and all ingredients form my supplier, (Cassidys) has been great, only one small problem which was soon sorted out. This alone with your willingness to respond to a call for help, makes it all so much easier.
From the moment of putting down my first brew, I enlisted the services of a couple of Guinea Pigs, and after all this time have made only minor changes to the end result so they are always ready for the next tasting, and a good hint given if I fall behind with production.
All success to Spirits Unlimited.

Dear Malcolm
I started distilling with old 20 L 14 still, which was converted to a Reflex, with element, about a couple of years ago, and have been more than happy with the end product. I find that Whisky Brandy, Gin Gold and Dark Rum is equal to any commercial Product.
I have been instrumental in starting 5 others using your still, products and methods.

Dear R Willmott
Thank you for the prompt dispatch of goods ordered from you last month. Thank you too for the generous allocation of free products.
I have set up the still and am into production. We are delighted with the results and hope to extend our range in the future.
Unfortunately we are very disappointed to find that less than a month after the purchase of our basic equipment you are offering a new stainless steel still with two elements. Had we known of this superior equipment we would certainly have purchased the new one as it would considerably reduce the amount of time required in operation.
We would like to have had the second element and the book as part of the original setup.
Enclosed find our order for further supplies.
Yours faithfully, E W Gibb

Dear Jan and Malcolm,
Thank you for your ever-ready advice and return phone calls when we needed it. We love the fast delivery of our orders. Also we love the product. This is the greatest hobby ever and we have introduced many friends to it.
